Love that constrains - Wednesday, September 01, 2010

"So I bought her to me for fifteen pieces of silver," Hosea 3:2

The story of Hosea and his wife Gomer is a most touching one, for through the relationship with his wife Hosea's life is a picture of Jehovah's love for his people. In chapters one and two Gomer plays the Harlot and even the pleas from her own children do not change her direction. She finds herself destitute and being sold as a slave. To her surpise the one who is bidding for her is the very one she played the harlot against. Is not this the picture of Christ love for us? Though we had sinned he stilled loved us and died for us and purchased us with his own blood. Notice he said "I bought her to me..." 1 Cor. 6:20 "For ye are bought with a price.." Should not His great love win our affections, our total devotion, our loudest praise, and our most fervent labor. He has bought us "to him" it is for our Lord we should live and walk for Him and His glory. For when we were in sin and condemned to Hell our Lord brought us out of the horrible pit and the miry clay and set our feet on a rock. 2 Cor. 5:14
